Marcus and Narcissa Whitman

Missionaries to the Cayuse

The story of Marcus and Narcissa Whitman is not only fascinating, it contains many of the common elements of western American pioneer stories. In this archive, you will become acquainted with several of the principal people in both the native and settler societies in Oregon Territory. If you read only one story of pioneer settlement, this one would be a good choice as it fairly well sums up what always happens.

As time and resources allow, we will add more material to this collection, along with pictures of important sites where the story played out.
